Last week I talked to my mentor about working at camp over the summer.
His advice: rest, rest, rest before I go.
The problem: I’m not much for resting. Give me one good day of rest then I’m ready to go.
Due to issues with my car, I was forced to rest! Haha. I’ve been sitting here pretty much since I got home. It hasn’t been as bad as I thought it would be though.
I’m reading through Donald Miller’s Blue Like Jazz and Galatians.
In my opinion, it’s a pretty good combination.
Whenever I go to Miller’s book, I feel like I’m sitting down to have a conversation with the guy. I love that! Last summer I read Searching For God Knows What, and I loved it too.
I don’t think I have to express how good the book of Galatians is. If you don’t know, see for yourself. It’s just indescribably good. I’m reading over a lot of things that I’ve heard before, but I so desperately need to daily reminded of the truths presented in that letter. I haven’t gotten very far; I’m in chapter 3. There’s been much talk about justification. Justification comes through faith, contrary to the wildly held belief that it (justification) come through the Law.
The fact that my justification is not contingent on what I do is absolutely freeing.
Come, let’s rejoice in this truth! :D
One of the cool things about being home and not having transportation is that I have ALL the time in world to journal and read! haha
I’m reading Galatians
and listening to Bethel
it’s raining outside, and I can smell my grandmother’s cooking.
what’s missing?? Coffee!! That’s a problem that I will fix very soon!
We’ve been justified by faith, not works.
I’ve come to realize how much I’ve neglected my blog lately! It’s a sad story haha
Anyway…things are actually going very well!
I have a job lined up for the summer, and I’ll head over to Birmingham, AL on the 21st to do training for a week. Upon finished training, my team and I well be sent out to the location we’re to serve at for the remainder of the summer. I’m really hoping it’s Atlanta. That’s actually ironic because not too long ago I wanted to be anywhere but the south haha.
This crazy thing happened in my heart, and the Lord just came in did business haha. I was able to refocus and realize that it’s not the location that important, but it’s the mission—serving the community and youth! I’m so ready! I don’t care where I’m placed as along as I get to serve youth and the community.
My job title is Service Coordinator. That basically means that I’ll head up service projects in the community. I’m not quite sure what all we’ll do yet, but I’m really excited about the opportunity. It’ll be fun
My summer schedule is kinda crazy. I leave here on the 12th probably (staying for graduation). Leave from home on the 21st to go to camp. Leave camp on Aug 7th to go back home. Leave home on the 11th to get back to TFC for RA training haha. Jam packed.
Sophomore yr is almost over!! Only finals left. Half way point!
